The first half of reading two talked about 10 rules on making a successful logo. Each rule was defined and examples were given. It also included Briefing Questions, important things to ask the client and yourself when you start with the first rule: Answer who, what and why? A logo should grow from these answers, the problem should dictate the solution.
The quote above is from Tibor Kalman, and applies to number 10 on the list of rules: Be Strong.
The second part of the reading explains the word icon in depth, and why we associate many things around us with our own face. It tells why we perceive the smiley face as a face (it being only three dots and a line). It is told in a comic book form in a fun way.
Name three of the Rules from the Logo Design Workbook (not mentioned above). Which ones do you think are most important and why?
