If I were to define Chip Kidd as a book cover designer the one word I would use is nostalgia. Specifically, what the works I am referring to are the ones that he has done for DC comics. Reading about him I learn that he has designed 1,500 covers for authors like Michael Crichton and John Updike. But the covers that interest me the most are his Batman and Superman covers and others he did for DC. Looking at these book covers reveals to me that many of his works have an older classic comic look.
Kidds other covers have a more modern look, and are striking and original.
